Boston Calling Music Festival

Every music teacher furthers their own music education in unique ways. I do this by going to conferences, chatting on Twitter, reading other blogs, and going to county-wide PD sessions with other music teachers, but my favorite way to further my education is to go to see live music!

Two years ago, I heard about a new music festival held over Memorial Day called Boston Calling. The festival is, of course, in Boston, Massachusetts- right in City Hall Plaza. Now the first year I went it was cold and rainy- two of my least favorite weather descriptors. But it didn't seem to matter- I had a BLAST!

After that year, I have decided to go to the next two- May 2014 and, most recently, May 2015. There are also Boston Calling festivals held in September, but I can never make those because the first month of school is crazy (am I right?)

Here are the line-ups for the three I've been to so far:

After the first year, we haven't had any issues with the weather and my favorite part about this festival is: You get to stand on solid group- no dirt or grass or camping- woohoo!!

This year my favorite performances were- Marina and the Diamonds (repeat performance from two years ago), Tove Lo (you may have heard her songs, Talking Body and High, on the radio), The Ballroom Thieves (Boston natives), and Vance Joy (you've probably heard his song Riptide on the radio).

The lineup for September is AH-mazing!

I really want to go, but that will be a game time decision in September depending on the daily lineup/money being available. If you have the chance, you should check out this festival- it is incredibly fun and they always have great artists- some well known and some not.

Have a great Tuesday!
